Haugaland videregående skole is in a Norwegian context, a large upper secondary school, mainly focusing on vocational training. The school has approximately 850 students who come from a wide geographical area and has traditionally also had students with wide variations in their theoretical knowledge. The school offers the following vocational programmes:
Building and construction,
Design, arts and crafts,
Healthcare, childhood and youth development,
Service and transport,
Technical and industrial production.
Because it is a combined vocational and academic school, Haugaland also offers classes in General studies specializing in arts. The school has 170 staff and in addition to the 6 main education programs also has a branch for students taking alternative education and is responsible for 100 students at the apprentice school and for prison education in Haugesund, Norway.
